Geocache Description:

30 August 2020, 12:00 - 16:00

It's not the Race for Cache this time. It's the Race for Snapshots!

For those who might remember, during the annual Race for Cache event (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016) racers could earn extra points for taking photos of various unusual things around the city. The more outrageous the photo, the more points you earned. To celebrate 20 years of geocaching, I'm reviving the "snapshot" portion of the race to make for an interesting event. Treehugger21 from Fredericton did a couple of events similar to this.

Racers will gather at Bore Park where the "race" will begin at exactly 1pm. All teams should arrive no later than 12:30pm for registration.

Unlike the Race for Cache, individual cachers may participate without a team. However, teams of two or more are recommended so one person can navigate and the other can drive. No pre-registration is required. Just show up and let us know you want to play.

The race itself is a photo scavenger hunt with a twist. Just prior to starting, each team will be given a list of "snapshots" they need to take from various parts of the city. Some of the snapshots are specific locations within the city, and others are just random items/locations you will need to find on your own.

Smartphones with a camera and an Instagram account (set to public) are preferred, but any digital camera can be used for taking the photos. More details will be provided at the event.

Winners will be crowned at the finish line (given out at the event prior to the race), where food and refreshments will be available.

Those who do not wish to participate in the race are still welcome to attend this event and meet up with the others at the finish line.

As part of public health guidelines, we recommend maintaining social distancing during all aspects of the race. If you are able to, wearing of masks is requested if you cannot socially distance. Hand sanitizer will be available at both ends of this race.

Please log your WILL ATTEND so we can keep you updated on all things with this event.
