Welcome! Not only is this Community Celebration event celebrating 20 YEARS of geocaching, it is also celebrating my 18th anniversary of geocaching. Everyone is welcome to attend--friends old and new--and friends I haven't met yet.
This event should have something to offer for everyone.
DETAILS:
Date/Time: July 18, 2020 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm or later
Where: Rotary Park Large Pavilion, in American Fork
Park Amenities: Pavilion with 12 tables, restrooms, 2 playgrounds, basketball hoops.
REMEMBER: Wearing a face mask is mandatory while at this event.
I don't want to cancel this event but I don't want to endanger anyone else either.
If we all do our part during this pandemic we will all have a good time and stay safe.
ACTIVITIES (Subject to change as the event approaches):
- Ugly Tie Contest -- Participants are encouraged to bring (or wear if you dare) an ugly tie to enter in the contest. I'll probably just ask a few random attendees to act as the Fashion Police Judging Committee. A prize will be awarded to the winner.
- Poker Run -- I will have five locations around the park with a color-coded container of numbers. Visit each location and select a number from the container. Bring the five numbers (one of each color) to the contest table and fill in the entry form with your name and the five numbers you selected. Those numbers will determine your poker hand. A prize will be awarded to the best five-card poker hand.
- Where Am I? - A Before-the-Event Activity -- At the bottom of the cache page is a link to the Entry Form for this activity. You should print out this Enrty Form (zoom/scale it larger if you like), fill it out as you take the tour of American Fork and bring it with you to the event to be eligible for a prize. This cache page has the 20 waypoints corresponding to the 20 locations making it easier to get them downloaded to your GPS.
- Lawn Games: Lawn Tic-Tac-Toe, ???
- Display of Signature Items, Wooden Nickels, etc.
- Marshmallow Gun Duels -- I plan to have a few marshmallow guns available for friendly duels or just for target practice. There will be marshmallow ammunition available and sanitary wipes to clean the mouthpiece between participants. These will also be on sale if you want to purchase them.
- Get-to-Know-You Activity -- Find other attendees that fit a set of given characteristics.
