Weston-under-Penyard Halt railway station was a wood-built halt that served the village of Weston-under-Penyard and the immediate area. It stood on the Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester Railway, part of the Great Weston Railway, and was opened in 1929 to compete with local road transport. It was the first station after Ross-on-Wye with Mitcheldean Road station a little further on.

Nothing remains of the station or the railway bridge that crossed the road and as such there is very little to see there. Two stone bridges still stand on the stretch between the two afore-mentioned stations. Most of the track bed in the village is now built on. The photos give you a hint as to what the Halt and bridge looked like.

7815 Gloucester bound arriving at the halt. The locomotive is a Manor Class locomotive named Fritwell Manor. A 4-6-0 running with a 3-axle tender, she was built in January 1939 and withdrawn from service in September 1965. Of the thirty that were built, nine have been preserved but not 7815.
The cache is placed a little way from what was the station site but the hide keeps the railway theme as you will see.
