Geocache Description:

29 February 2020, 11:00 - 12:15

Welcome to the first CITO to take place in the City of London and the first CITO in the UK on a Leap Day with three others today!
Meet the hosts at the steps leading down to the Thames from 11.00am for a safety briefing for this beach cleaning CITO. The beach that we are working on is made up of soft sand, loose brick rubble, flint, bones and shells. Wear sturdy footwear, gloves and clothing that you won't mind getting splashed on. Surfaces are slippery with green algae but with care we should have a safe day. Children must be supervised at all times and it is recommended that we work in groups or pairs. Please remember to sign in and out so that we can account for everyone who attends. Low Tide is at 11:26 and remains low for a couple of hours. This gives us the opportunity to walk on the beach to pick up plastic litter found on the shore. Not a vast amount of plastic will be found, but every piece collected is one marine animal protected. Paper pickers and plastic bags will be provided, but if you can bring your own that will be helpful as the number of attendees is getting rather high now.
Let’s clean up and leap for joy!
