It took a bit over a year for the first cache to be hidden in the Hawkesbury district. Just like this event it has taken a year to get here, due to COVID. It was hidden on the 25 May 2001 and it was archived on 10 February 2002. It was called A Wise Man's Folly it's code was GC78433. The multi started from near Mill Creek Campground. It seems to have been a truly nasty one, hidden by Rum N Coke and had a D/T rating of 5/4.5 In it's short existence it was found once by Tangles, who took 4 hours to find the cache and return, the poem on the cache page suggests the CO took 7 hours. Overall the cache had 5 DNFs. Some would say in the following 19 years we have only made our caches a little bit easier
For the event rather than going to Mill Creek in winter, the last time I went there it took me 30 minutes picking off the leaches only to find out when I got home I missed at least 2 in my socks. I thought it might be nicer at Tizzana's Winery
