2010 – Glen Bell, American businessman, founded Taco Bell (b. 1923) In the late 1970s, Bell opened a tourist railroad called the West Side and Cherry Valley Railroad at Tuolumne, California. He was a life-long railway enthusiast. This 3 ft gauge railroad used the lower section of the track and several steam locomotives of the West Side Lumber Company railway. You can hike the roadbed and still see the old rails while chasing down a few geocaches that are placed along the railway right-of-way. Trains are cool.

Today is ” National Nothing Day ”!

According to Wikipedia, National Nothing Day is an "un-event" proposed in 1972 by columnist Harold Pullman Coffin and observed annually on January 16 since 1973, when it was added to Chase's Calendar of Events. It is not actually a public holiday, as that requires an act of Congress. Its purpose is “ to provide Americans with one National day when they can just sit without celebrating, observing or honoring anything.”
Although I am a bit confused as to how one can celebrate nothing by doing something. I mean the TV show Seinfeld was supposedly a ‘show about nothing’, but they still always did something. Maybe that’s why the Realist Society of Canada (RSC) has a religious holiday called THABS. THABS is dedicated to the celebration of the "realization" that "if there was ever nothing, there would be nothing now". I guess everything has to have started from something. So we’ll start our nothing day with something - breakfast!

So if you have work or other obligations in the way, it might be more fun to skip those and do nothing. Just start with breakfast and spend the day geocaching. Oh wait….
Darn, doing nothing sounds like a lot of work too. But at least more fun!

Quote of the day – “ The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing. “ - Albert Einstein

The event??
Breakfast With The Geocachers. Breakfast With The Gang. Breakfast With The Goofballs. Best Way To Geocache. Breakfast While Talking Geocaching. Bulging Waistlines Totally Grew..

Call it what you want, but whatever you call it, it IS good food and great company. So let's get together, talk caching, and eat!

When?
Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 6:30am - 7:30am. (Oh yes, AM, in the morning, bright and early, rise and shine sleepy head). You may stay longer if you'd like, that depends on what time you have to show up for work or be somewhere else.

Where?
We will be meeting for a good, hearty breakfast at LaRue’s Family Resturant, with easy access from US-131 and I-94.

Who?
Everyone is welcome at the event!

What Do I Bring?
Bring a good, hearty appetite and be ready to share some of the best memories you have of geocaching; including, but not limited to, best caches, best events, best hospital story, best encounter with local law enforcement authorities, etc.

Celebrating a Milestone?
We want to know! Post it on the event page and you'll be acknowledged here as an official part of this event's history!

What do I do AFTER the event?
If you don't have to go to work or be somewhere else, we suggest you get out and cache!!! Either alone or with one of the groups that will, undoubtedly, be formed before, during or after the event. A great geocaching day can start here!
