This geocache is placed to honour the 100th anniversary of a Church of Christ meeting in Estevan, which first began in 1919. A celebratory reunion took place over Sept 20-22/2019 to which approximately 170 attended... This geocache honours that event, and the preceding history. Early members gathered in private homes to worship, until they met in a remodelled chapel in the 1000 block of 3rd Street in 1921, then purchased a lot in 1922, and hoped to construct a building on the 1000 block on 2nd Street. Meetings were held in the basement of this address until 1927. From that time until 1946, members met in each other’s homes, when two lots were purchased north of the business district on the 47 N highway. That address today, 1302 - 8th Street, is where the building still stands after having gone through several renovations and transformations.
(The CO was personally part of this church family from August 1970 - March 1972, when with my newly married husband, we moved to farm in rural MB.)
