O Caia é um rio português que nasce na Serra de São Mamede, entre as freguesias de Reguengo e Ribeira de Nisa no concelho de Portalegre. No seu percurso, passa por Arronches e Caia, indo desaguar na margem direita do Guadiana no município de Elvas. Na parte final do seu percurso delimita uma secção da fronteira Espanha-Portugal. O fronteira Espanha-Portugal entre o rio caia e o Ribeira de Cuncos é disputada devido à Questão de Olivença.
A Barragem do Caia é a maior albufeira do distrito de Portalegre, estendendo-se ao longo dos concelhos de Arronches, Campo Maior e Elvas.
A bacia da barragem situa-se metade dentro do concelho de Elvas (parte de betão) e outra metade no concelho de Campo Maior (parte de aterro).
É uma barragem mista, sendo de betão na parte mais profunda do vale e de aterro na margem esquerda do rio.
A Barragem do Caia foi construída para abastecer a população dos concelhos de Elvas e Campo Maior, e a partir de 2007, começou também a abastecer a população dos concelhos de Arronches e Monforte.

Caia is a Portuguese river that rises in the Serra de São Mamede, between the parishes of Reguengo and Ribeira de Nisa in the municipality of Portalegre. It is a mixed dam, made of concrete in the deepest part of the valley and an embankment on the left bank of the river.
The Caia Dam was built to supply the population of the municipalities of Elvas and Campo Maior, and from 2007, it also began to supply the population of the municipalities of Arronches and Monforte.
