Maglaj Fortress is one of the strongest fortresses in the Bosna Valley. The castle was first mentioned in the charter of King Sigismund on 18 September 1408. The first official document signed in Maglaj between the Ottoman Empire and the Hungarian Empire was made in 1503. Although built in the 14th century as the fortress of the Bosnian kingdom, it was the "last chance" of the Ottoman army. At the end of the 17th century - in October 1697 - Jenő Savoyai took it along with several nearby castles.
