War Memorial #264 ~ Baldock
The memorial is in the form of a large plaque on the wall in the memorial gardens. The memorial consist of five panels on the wall plus the nearby gates. The first world war names are listed by Regiment and there are 79 names. There are thirty four names for the second world war, for ease of use the names have been sorted into alphabetical order for both wars. The memorial was first dedicated and unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire in February 1921. The War Memorial has recently undergone a facelift in line with the rest of Baldock Town centre (2009). Two additional wings have since been added to the memorial one on the left and one on the right and names have now been added to these.
