The Winter solstice occurs this year on 22nd December , which also marks the beginning of Yule .
in the northern hemisphere the date marks the 24 hour period with the fewest daylight hours of the year , that’s why it’s known as the shortest day ( or longest night ) of the year.
what better way to celebrate than climbing a hill and taking in the views !
We are down in the area for a few days and hope to do a few local hills and some geocaches and it would be nice to meet up with some like minded cachers .
the event will take place at the summit of Ingleborough ( 723m) in the Yorkshire dales on Sunday 22/12/19 , starting at 12.30 and ending at 13.00
we will hopefully have a few tbs with us to swap , have a chat and take in the views .
this is is not a led walk , you are responsible for your own safety and as such must be prepared for a day on the hills , be able to navigate your own way on & off the hill , be prepared for whatever weather we encounter and be aware of your surroundings at all times .
