Dès l'approche de la pointe du Nessay, on remarque la présence de gros blocs polis par la mer d'une roche noire et massive. Ils annoncent la proximité d'un filon de roche magamtique que l'on trouve rapidement dans la falaise et sur l'estran.
Il s'agit de dolérite, roche magmatique à grain trés fin peu visible à l'oeil nu dont la composition chimique est identique à celle des basaltes ou gabbros.
Ces filons représentent les conduits d'alimentation d'un magma basique, canalisé à travers la croûte terrestre depuis le manteau jusqu'à la surface.
Le filon est découpé par de nombreuses diaclases qui facilitent la circulation de l'eau et mènent à sa décomposition en arène. Le coeur un peu plus sain en forme de boule s'entourant d'enveloppes de desquamation. Cette altération dite "en pelure d'oignon" est caractéristique, dégageant des boules isolées qui dans les terres sont l'indice d'un tel filon dans le sous-sol.
As soon as you approach Pointe du Nessay, you notice the presence of large blocks polished by the sea of a black and massive rock. They announce the proximity of a vein of magamtic rock that one quickly finds in the cliff and on the foreshore.
It is dolerite, a very fine-grained magmatic rock hardly visible to the naked eye, the chemical composition of which is identical to that of basalts or gabbros.
These veins represent the supply conduits of a basic magma, channeled through the earth's crust from the mantle to the surface.
The vein is cut by numerous joints which facilitate the circulation of water and lead to its decomposition into an arena. The heart a little healthier in the shape of a ball surrounded by shells of desquamation. This so-called "onion skin" deterioration is characteristic, releasing isolated balls which in the soil are the indication of such a vein in the subsoil.
