Erected in 1921, on land donated to the War Memorial Committee by the adjacent Giffnock South Parish Church.

Unveiled by the then local MP, Joseph Johnstone with bandsmen and servicemen from Hamilton Military Depot in attendance. The memorial was designed by John Watson F.R.I.B.A. and the plans drawn up by George B. Walker, both of whom worked free of charge.

The local men killed in World War I are listed on the cenotaph, with the men killed in World War II recorded on the rear wall.
