Another almost millenary pagoda, Chua Pho Linh is worth a short detour from usual haunts, for its beautiful tree covered grounds, its lotus and nymphea ponds and its (slightly unusual for Hanoi) Tibetan buddhist imagery. Not for the faint hearted, the depictions of hell greeting you at the entrance and exhibited around the temple buildings are very graphic. Try to spot the cool little monk statues in the pavilion on stilts.
