The “Trail Of Wood” (TOW) series has been a great series but alas the series is starting to show her age. It was originally set in April of 2011, so over 8 years ago. She has lived through brutal triple digit summers and freezing winters. In human years I would say she is over 100 years old. Soooo…It is time to refresh the playing field.
Today 7 members of the Ojai Valley Cachers went out and re-set the series with brand new shiney caches. The title will make a lot more sense once you have found the first few.
The caches are intended to bring you out to Lockwood Valley and enjoy the scenery along Lockwood Valley Road. This is NOT a power cache trail. All of the containers are similar, but each is unique. Almost without exception each cache will be found under a SPOR. Standard rules apply: Find the cache; sign the log; replace the cache.
We want this series to last a long long time. PLEASE do not move the caches containers.
We placed that cache so they can be found; no real surprises here: EZPZ We worked very hard to ensure that each shoulder of turnout was safe. The route is meant to be traveled from west to east and almost all of the caches are on the south side of the road. Please pull off the road completely at each cache. We also worked hard to ensure that the cache placement would not have a detrimental impact on the environment, traffic or the highway. Please tread lightly, drive slowly, and watch for traffic. The shoulders will be very muddy after heavy rains and there are a number of Arizona Crossings (streams crossing the road) that swell with quite a current after the rains and may make crossings dangerous. We hope you enjoy the ride, the natural beauty, the fresh air and the 100+ caches as much as we enjoyed placing them…..be safe and HAVE FUN !!
