Placed in a remote section of Stonewall Resort State Park, Hidden Gem is not easy to get to. In fact, no matter the route you choose to get there, HIKING will be involved. However, once you find it, you'll have a beautiful view of Carrion Bay and rolling hills. It is for this view that Hidden Gem was named.
The quickest route to finding this cache is to park at the suggested parking area and hike approximately 0.5 mile to the trail intersection sign and take a left onto the Lakeside Nature Trail. Follow this to the Cairns Trail and use GPS to lead you up, UP, UP for a steep, vigorous hike to the cache.
While there are many routes one might take to this cache, the "easiest" will be to follow Rush Run trail from the suggested parking area to the top of the mountain and turn right at the "Carrion Run Trail" sign. Stay on this trail until you enter the State Park. Immediately upon entering the park, you'll need to "free hike" (no trail to the cache). Rely on your GPS and spidey senses.
Notice: There are many ways to approach this cache. Since one might choose to walk through the Wildlife Management Area to reach the State Park and find the cache, we suggest wearing blaze orange during hunting seasons.
