Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day, Eh!!!

 

 

This year, 2019, our friends in the Great White North will celebrate Thanksgiving on October 14th.  What is this Canadian Thanksgiving you ask?  Here is a bit of trivia for you to learn about it while we send our best wishes to those celebrating!

Question 1: Why is it celebrated on different dates each year?
4 - Why do Canadians do anything they do, take off, eh!?
7 - Pass me another beer, ya hoser!
9 - It's celebrated on the 2nd Monday of October. USA's is the 4th Thursday of November.

 

Question 2: What do they serve for this harvest feast?
1 - Maple syrup, eh?
9 - Case of Molson, Tim Horton's, Poutine?
5 - The usual Harvest Feast fare, turkey, Ham, stuffing, potatoes, corn, pies, etc...

 

Question 3: When was it made an official holiday?
2 - Like, oh, the day after hockey was invented!
9 - I hear if you find a mouse in your beer, you get free beer, eh!
4 - Officially, since 1879, But "legally" since January 31st 1957

 

Question 4: What are some common things we share?
8 - Like, William Shatner is probably the best actor ever, eh!

3 - Surely a McKenzie, eh!
6 - That hoser Mountie, Dudley?
5 - Samuel de Champlain held feasts of thanks. They formed the "Order of Good Cheer" and held feasts with their First Nations neighbors.

 

Question 6: For a brief period, what other reason was it celebrated?
8 - Justin Beiber left the country!
5 - Any reason to drink more beer, eh!
1 - End of the War of 1812, End of Lower Canada Rebellion, these were a more solemn celebration.
