Located at a wayside rest stop on Highway 73. There is a monument
commemorating the early Finnish Pioneers who settled in northern
Minnesota in the late 1800's. Why they decided to move here is
anybody's guess... To verify your find of this cache, please email
me the date the first settlers arrived (as noted on the stone
marker).
This is one of Millie the Wonder Dog Johnson's usual rest stops on
our way from the Twin Cities to Hibbing MN. There is a nice mowed
field and picnic table here for a short "Frisbee" timeout from
driving. Millie is always good about doing her business in the
woods and not on the grass. People, please also be kind as there
are no rest-rooms here and do the same.
Enjoy your history lesson while at the monument.
