A casa foi concebida para refúgio estival de Victor Carlos Sassetti (1851-1915) ...
O projecto é revivalista e foi desenvolvido por Luigi Manini ( 1848 - 1936 ) entre 1890 e 1894 .
Inspira-se nos castelos Lombardos , no norte de Itália , região de onde eram originários
o arquiteto ( Crema ) e a família sassetti ( Piemonte )
A Câmara Municipal de Sintra adquiriu a propriedade em 2004 , e em 2011 , a Parques de Sintra comprou Vila Sassetti e as propriedades adjacentes com o objectivo de perservar o valor cultural e criar um novo trilho pedestre de acesso desde o Centro Histórico até ao Palácio Nacional da Pena . Por forma a atingir este objectivo , e dado o avançado grau de degradação em que Vila Sassetti se encontrava , foi criado um projecto multidisciplinar cuja implementação se iniciou em 2014 .
O percurso pedestre através de Vila Sassetti é gratuito e está aberto diariamente entre as 10h e as 18h na época alta e entre as 9h e as 17h na época baixa

The house was built as a summer residence for Victor Carlos Sassetti (1851-1915) ...
The project was commissioned from his friend, the architect and scenographer Luigi Manini (1848-1936) , with the main building , a revivalist recreational home ( inspired by the North Italy Castles of Lombardy ) built between 1890 and 1894.
Sintra Municipal Council acquired the property in 2004 and, in 2011, Parques de Sintra purchased both Villa Sassetti and the adjoining property with the objective of preserving both its heritage value and making available a new means of access, via footpath, from the Historical Centre to the National Palace of Pena/the Moorish Castle as an alternative to the Pena ramp. In order to attain this objective, and taking into consideration the advanced state of degradation that Villa Sassetti had entered into, a global multidisciplinary project was designed with implementation beginning in 2014.
The pathway is open daily between 10am and 6pm during the summer season and between 9am and 5pm in the winter.
