Films, food, friends, fun - and the 2019 GIFF souvenir for your profile.
This is a Saturday afternoon event.
From finding new favorite places, people, and puzzles, geocaching is full of moments that should be captured on film and shared with the geocaching world. The Geocaching International Film Festival is an opportunity for filmmakers to do just that.
The Monterey Peninsula showing of the 2019 GIFF will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. 800 Cass Street. Monterey. The event will be held from 3-5PM with the short films being shown on a projector in the fellowship/reception hall beginning at 3:30PM. Folding chairs will be provided as well as popcorn. You are welcome to bring snacks - for yourself or to share! The film reel will run approximately an hour.
Parking is plentiful on Saturday: the church parking lot, streetside parking on Cass St and Dormody Ct and parking under 880 Cass are all available. In previous years, some attendees got caught in traffic on their way to Monterey, so if you are traveling on Hwy 1 or Hwy 101, you may want to come early and spend some time in Monterey before the event, which is located walking distance from downtown and Fisherman's Wharf. Also nearby (a free trolley will take you between Fisherman's Wharf and the row) is Cannery Row which has a few of the 'Virtual Reward' virtual caches published last summer.
From the GIFF FAQ: Will there be a souvenir this year? Yes! Anyone who attends an official GIFF Event will receive the 2019 GIFF souvenir.
At long last, the Geocaching International Film Festival 2019 finalists have been chosen! These films stand out above the rest for their creativity, production quality, content, and contribution to the global community of geocachers.
