BENVENUTI A CANDOGLIA! Questa ridente cittadina alle porte della Val d'Ossola non solo è la "famosissima" culla del marmo rosa del Duomo di Milano, ma anche il paese natale (e d'adozione) di due geocachers che tentano di combattere quella penuria di simpatizzanti e carestia di caches che sta inaridendo la zona.
In occasione del secondo periodo annuale dedicato agli eventi Cache In Trash Out (CITO), vorremmo invitare quanti più amici del Geocaching (e non!) ad unirsi a noi per una caccia questa volta un po' diversa: come i Babbani spesso ci insegnano, le "scatoline" verranno sì raccolte e buttate via! L'idea sarebbe dunque quella di pulire un'area adiacente alla scarpata della ferrovia e il ponte della superstrada. Sembra infatti che l'ebrezza del viaggiare, invogli le persone a sbarazzarsi di ogni genere di "monnezza", prevalentemente plasticume.
Consigliamo perciò a tutti di portare con sè dei guanti e, se in possesso, una pinza raccogli rifiuti (noi siamo provinciali, ci accontentiamo anche della pinza per i legni del camino!). Avendo fatto un sopralluogo, abbiamo notato anche la presenza di rifiuti più ingombranti come laterizi e legname, ma ci concentreremo su quelli più "accessibili" e numerosi, quindi sacchi e bidoni dovrebbero bastare e li forniremo noi.
Abbiamo riservato un paio d'ore per l'evento, ma in base al numero e alla lena dei partecipanti, si potrebbe anche finire prima (l'area non è vastissima): non aspettatevi un'organizzazione degna di Greta Thunberg! Dopo le fatiche e il trauma della levataccia domenicale (sopratutto per woodpecker_21), chi vorrà potrà comunque ristorarsi gratuitamente a queste coordinate N 45° 58.521' E 8° 25.518', dove offriremo un piccolo rinfresco per scambiare quattro chiacchiere ed eventuali trackables.
In caso di pioggia (o neve...o grandine...o cavallette!) non troppo "aggressiva", l'evento si potrà tenere lo stesso, in quanto buona parte dell'area da ripulire è coperta appunto dal ponte della superstrada.
Oltre ovviamente ad ottenere il souvenir dedicato, creeremo una cache ricordo per il primo (crediamo) evento CITO della provincia, la quale formerà sicuramente una preziosa aggiunta alla vostra collezione di FTF, e servirà a celebrare quest'attività che oltre ad intrattenere fa anche qualcosa di buono per il pianeta!

WELCOME TO CANDOGLIA! This nice little village at the gates of Val d'Ossola is not only the "famously known" cradle of Milan Duomo's pink marble, but also the hometown (and foster-town) of two geocachers trying to oppose that dearth of fellow enthusiasts and shortage of caches that is withering the area.
On the occasion of the second yearly season dedicated to Cache In Trash Out (CITO) events, we would like to invite as many Geo-friends (or not!) to join us for a slightly different hunt this time: as Muggles often teach us, “little boxes” are indeed going to be picked up and thrown away! The idea would then be that of cleaning up an area between the railway embankment and the highway bridge. It seems in fact that the thrill of travelling encourages people to get rid of every sort of junk, mostly plasticky.
We therefore advise everyone to bring gloves with them and, if you have one, a litter picker (we are from the countryside, so we’ll settle also for fireplace pliers!). After a first inspection, we noticed that there is also bulkier waste such as bricks and timber, but we’ll focus on that more “attainable” and abundant, so bins and bin bags should be enough and we’ll bring these along.
We allowed a couple of hours for this event, but based on how many and how eager participants will come and be, it may also finish earlier (the area is not that huge): don’t expect a setup worthy of Greta Thunberg! After the toil and the trauma of a Sunday’s early rise (especially for woodpecker_21), those wanting to restore themselves will be able to do so at these coordinates N 45° 58.521' E 8° 25.518', where we’ll offer free refreshments while having a chat and maybe exchanging some trackables.
In the event of rain (or snow...or hail...or locusts!) which is not too “aggressive”, the event will take place regardless, as much of the area that need a clean-up is sheltered by the highway bridge.
Other than receiving the limited souvenir, we’ll create a memorial cache to mark the first (we think) CITO event of the province, which will surely make a valuable addition to your FTF collection, and it will also serve as a celebration of this activity that aside being of recreation, it can also do something good for the planet!
