Cedro do Atlas - Um dos maiores de Portugal

Vindo das florestas de cedro da Cordilheira montanhosa ATLAS, no norte de África, o Cedro do Atlas foi plantado há mais de 200 anos pelo Capitão Homem Cristo, Oficial do R.I.14. Este árvore, que é o maior Cedro plantado em Portugal, está sempre lá, no canto do Hotel Grão Vasco, virado ao Rossio, frondoso, soberbo, vigilante, assistindo a todas as mudanças que a cidade tem sofrido. Nos anos 50, quando da construção da hoje chamada Avenida 25 de Abril, motivou a curva do arranha-céus (maior prédio da época), quem desce para o Rossio, de modo a que não fosse destruído. O Cedro aparece sempre em todos os ângulos do centro da cidade. Coming from the cedar forests of the ATLAS mountain range in North Africa, Atlas Cedar was planted over 200 years ago by Captain Homem Cristo, Officer of the R.I.14. This tree, which is the largest Cedar planted in Portugal, is always there, in the corner of the Hotel Grão Vasco, Near Rossio, leafy, superb, vigilant, watching all the changes that the city has undergone. In the 50's, when the construction of what is now called Avenida 25 de Abril, motivated the curve of the skyscraper (largest building at the time), which goes down to Rossio, so that it would not be destroyed. Cedro always appears in all angles of the city center. Beautiful. Always good companion of all passersby
