Geocache Description:

This cache was nominated in the 2019 Victorian Cache of the Year Awards (Best 'Multi' Cache).

Estimated time to complete: 20 min
Estimated distance to travel: 400m

At its heart this is a multi-cache grounded in the real world, but as you'll see, it also plays as a mystery cache with many variations or even a night cache - there are many choices...

Finding it hard to find time for a cache? Stuck in bed, too tired, weather bad, work busy, a family that needs taking care of? Maybe you’re in lockdown. Maybe there’s only time for a quick find, with the added bonus of refreshing some of your DARK caching skills ;)

It’s also possible you've found all your local caches and yearn to explore somewhere new - somewhere like Vermont South, Victoria, Australia?

It's even possible you've never heard of geocaching and found this page by accident, but after reading this far you've grown a little curious...

Never fear - here is a multi-cache you can find* from home.

Be an Armchair Explorer

You will need to visit each waypoint and collect information. This makes for a pleasant walk in the real world, but is eminently possible in the virtual world using satellite and street views on a PC and phone.

Once you have all the numbers, check your answers on the online checker. If it feels right, get out there, find the cache and claim that smiley!

Cache Information

If venturing into the real world, be wary of neighbouring houses when searching. If searching at night, there are five reflectors to help you. They are placed at roughly double head height - three in the clearing opposite Waypoint 3, then two off to the left, including a double reflector at GZ.

You are looking for an ammo can containing a 2L sistema.

Be an Armchair Logger*

However, if going outside isn't really your thing right now, select one of the video links offered by the online checker and experience the find* from home. You not only get the thrill of an FTF* hunt, but you also get to choose the type of find that gives you the most geojoy, whether that be at midday, at dawn, at night, in the rain, as a tree climb, walking the dog, practising CITO or spotting abandoned underwear!

With the satisfaction of a successful armchair find* complete it just remains to claim the virtual souvenir and post a Write note on the cache page describing your adventures (perhaps with a selfie in your favourite chair).

The only caveat is that you can't go ahead and log a Found It and claim the smiley unless you have actually signed the physical logbook!

January 2022 Update: I have now added the option of a bonus Trackable TB95XMX to this cache. Details below.

March 2023 Update: Unfortunately, the virtual logging of this cache as a GCA Locationless Find is no longer possible, however the cool virtual signatures can still be viewed: GA14648 Virtual FTF* @ Home

Collecting the Numbers

🛋    At the Listed Coordinates you will find a roundabout. Opposite is a small gate to Terrara Park. In the nature strip to the left of the gate are a number of round hatches. How many are there? (E)

🛋    Heading north from the roundabout you will see a large metal box on the right. The word for its colour has how many letters? (C)

🛋    At Waypoint 2 there is a sign at the entrance to the park. Other than "Club" the two groups listed have another word in common. How many letters does it have? (B)

🛋    There is a second, smaller sign to the right of the main sign. How many words are there in the first line of the sign's two-line heading? (F)

🛋    What is the total number of cricket pitches (excluding training nets) doubled plus pavilions in Terrara Park? (D)

***FEB 2024 UPDATE***
The new pavilion(s) is(are) showing up on most satellite views so I have updated the calculation for D.

🛋    On the opposite side of the road to the park entrance is a yellow speed sign. How many letters are in the first word on the sign? (G)

🛋    At Waypoint 3 is a bus stop. What is the bus route number on the sign? (A)

Calculating the Final Coordinates

The final coordinates are S37 51.SOUTH E145 11.EAST where:
SOUTH = A-BCD
EAST = A-EFG

TIPS:
▪️ use the digits as you have them, no multiplication is involved, the only operation is subtraction
▪️ add zeroes as for whole numbers eg. 43 = 043
▪️ checksums: SOUTH = EAST = 13
