Geocache Description:

28 September 2019, 13:00 - 17:00

Returning for 2019.  Caching for cash. We've had a lot of fun putting this on since 2008 and everyone who has taken part had a great time as well ... so here we go again. It's a great opportunity for geocachers new and old to test their skills, bid for prizes and meet each other. It also allows people to enjoy the beauty of the Irving Nature Park (INP). Wrapping up the day is a free barbeque.

EVENT DAY & DATE: SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 28TH, 2019 EVENT TIME: 1:00 to 5:00 PM WHERE: IRVING NATURE PARK, SAINT JOHN, NB. MEET AT THE SHELTER JUST ABOVE THE INFORMATION KIOSK. RAIN DATE: THE FOLLOWING DAY: SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 29TH. SAME TIME AND PLACE

There are a series of temporary geocaches hidden around the park, each with bundles of geobucks (play money) stashed in them. With the clock running find as many as you can, grab the bucks while competing against other geocachers. Use the geobucks to bid for prizes at an auction. In addition to the geobucks there is a "First To Find" piece in each container. For the beginners, there will be a short “Introduction to Geocaching” presentation to help get you started. Teams will register before being given the cache coordinates and heading out on the hunt. Very Imporatant - You must be able to manually enter coordinates into your GPS. All interested parties are asked to meet at the shelter above the information kiosk. The “Introduction to Geocaching” presentation starts at 1:00 p.m. The “Geocaching for Geobucks” competition will begin immediately following the presentation. Teams will have about 2 hours to hunt down all the caches and collect geobucks for the auction. The auction will follow the competition. At the conclusion of the auction we will wrap up the day with a free barbeque. Make sure you have your smartphone, digital camera or video recording device with you.  It will give you a chance to earn bonus geobucks. Young and old, experienced and beginners please join us for an afternoon of friendly geocaching with a twist. Do it alone or do it as a team, just do it! If you know someone who might like to attend but don't own a GPS the Irving Nature Park has Garmin GPS's which they will loan. Contact the nature park for details. If you or someone you know plan on using one of the Nature Park's GPS's, we ask that you show up 1/2 hour early (12:30) so we can teach you how to use it.

If it looks like rain, the staff at the Nature Park and I will decide by 10 AM whether or not to hold the event as scheduled or move it to the rain date.  If the event is moved to the rain date I will post a note through geocaching.com.
