Geocache Description:

In 1933, the Presbytery of Paisley, decided to create a new church and congregation in the rapidly growing area of Ralston, Oldhall. After some delay, the site was fixed and its purchase completed. The first sod was cut on the 23rd April 1935. On 4th February 1936 the Presbytery resolved the name of the new Church to be the Church of St. Mark’s, Oldhall. The Foundation Stone was laid during a ceremony that took place in March 1936. Little more than a year later a Dedication Ceremony took place in April 1937. The following week the induction of the Church’s first minister, the Reverend Gilbert George took place. Seven years after the decision to start a new church, in 1940, full Church status was granted in the “Deed of Constitution of the Church and Parish Quoad Sacra of St. Mark’s, Oldhall”
