This cache is hidden at Gardenside Park. A small parking lot is accessible via Yorktown Road, but parking is also possible in the cul-de-sac at the end of Gettysburg Rd. Lexington parks are open from dawn until dusk. The cache is accessible either by (1) following a trail to Gardenside Spring, which starts on the other side of Wolf Run Creek from Yorktown Rd, or (2) crossing Wolf Run near the tennis courts. Please note that the rocks in the stream may be slippery and uneven and use caution. A bridge near the playground also crosses Wolf Run and can be used to access the start of the trail to Gardenside Spring.

Gardenside Park received a stormwater incentive grant to install a stream buffer full of native plants, which you will see along the banks of Wolf Run while looking for this cache. A stream buffer is a strip of vegetation or zone along a stream that protects the stream from impacts of our land use. A healthy riparian zone consists of a combination of trees, grasses, shrubs, and perennials.

These native plants filter the water and allow for frogs, salamanders, and birds to be reintroduced to a clean stream. Having more diversity aids in natural pest management, such as reducing the number of mosquito's. The stream's last stop is the Kentucky river.

This cache has been approved by LFUCG Parks and Recreation: GP02.
