At 13,161 feet, Wheeler Peak is the highest point in New Mexico. I hiked to the summit from the Taos Ski area via Bull-of-the-Woods meadow, about a 14 mile round trip with nearly 5,000 feet of climb. A shorter, but steeper, approach is via Williams Lake.
