I was originally planning a more elaborate project with the Tualatin Hills Nature Park for this date, but it couldn't be made to happen in time. I will try it again in another few months. In the meantime, I have some friends coming from the North who want to attend a CITO, so I need to find something to clean.
The coordinates will lead you to the south overflow parking of the Howard M. Terpenning Recreation Center. There are many athletic fields here, as well as wooded trails. This is a large area that gets a lot of people though it, and people leave trash behind. Our job is to find it, and collect it. To make it interesting, there will be a prize given to the person who collects the most of it. I'm encouraging my friends from the North to bring something really good, but if they can't, I will find a good geocoin to serve as a prize. I'm pretty sure they won't disappoint us.
Basic rules:
- Don't start until I hand out the trash bags.
- Don't take trash out of trash cans.
- Stay out of active athletic fields. Spectator areas should be ok.
- Stay out of buildings.
- If you find dangerous things (like needles or bio-waste), don't pick it up.
- Don't make a nuisance.
I will have water, trash bags, and hand sanitizer near the above coordinates. We begin the cleanup at 2pm sharp. Show up 15 minutes early so I can hand out the trash bags.
I encourage you to bring gloves.
Hope to see you there!
