E’ in questi frangenti che Brescia si conquista il titolo di “leonessa d’Italia”. Lo sforzo di Tito Speri e dei suoi patrioti in quelle 10 giornate del lontano 1849 non fu vano. Tuttavia molti altri, per scelta o per sorte, dovettero compiere lo stesso sacrificio.
Per tentare di capire i loro sforzi e il duro prezzo che pagarono si potrebbe seguire il faticoso percorso che Tito Speri e i suoi compagni dovettero salire verso le barricate, verso quel castello che dall’alto dispensava schiavitù e morte.
