About This Specific Location
The Fallen Firefighter's Memorial was dedicated on June 9, 2018 after being approved by the General Assembly in 2014. The 22,000 pound concrete obelisk was moved from its original location at Mirror Lake where it has sat since 1971. An improvement to the memorial is the bronze statue of a firefighter bowing his head in memory of the fallen who lost their lives while serving the citizens of Delaware.
The Delaware Forest Service has a close partnership with the Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association. Several members train with and assist the Forest Service with prescribed fires as well as participate in the out-of-state wildland firefighting program.
Note cache is only available when the Dover Public Library is open.
