Geocache Description:

A turreted tower, dedicated on Christmas Day, 1921 to commemorate the people from Anstruther Easter and Anstruther Wester who served and died in World War 1 and one civilian. The names are recorded in plaques facing the village from which the people were drawn.

The tower, located on the edge of the golf course and overlooking the sea that a number of the men most probably worked, solemnly stands in memory of those lost.

This cache was placed to bring people here and to consider the contrast between this place and the battlefields of World War 1.

To access the memorial, please follow the coastal path along the edge of the golf course and then either walk up the edge of the rough from the path, or follow the rough vehicle path and then turn back to the memorial. Please give consideration to any golfers on the course. Public access is permitted to the memorial.

The cache can be found at N56 AB.CDE W002 42.XYZ where:

AB = The position of Elizabeth S. Johnson in the list.
C = Number of plaques on the side of the tower facing the rough.
D = Number of times the Seaforth Highlanders are recorded.
E = Ignoring the missing 'A', the number of full-size letters shown for Warrant Officer J. C. Weir's organisation.
X = Number of Royal Scots and Fife and Forfar Yeomanry recorded.
Y = Number of letters in the surname of the civilian commemorated here.
Z = Number of full-size letters in the Australian Light Horse Warrant Officer's name (First and Surname).
