Die Bahnhofstrasse ist eine ca. 1,4 Kilometer lange Strasse in Zürich. Sie ist international als eine der teuersten und exklusivsten Einkaufsstrassen der Welt bekannt. Mit Rekordwerten von bis zu 15'000 Franken pro Quadratmeter und Jahr sind die Mieten für Verkaufsflächen im Erdgeschoss an der Bahnhofstrasse die höchsten in Europa. Nur in New York City und Hongkong werden ähnliche Werte erreicht. Hier befinden sich zahlreiche Warenhäuser, Boutiquen grosser Modedesigner, Schmuck- und Uhrengeschäfte sowie Luxushotels.
Der Paradeplatz, den die Bahnhofstrasse quert, gilt als Zentrum des Schweizer Bankenplatzes. Er ist aber auch ein Knotenpunkt für die Tramlinien 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 und 13.
Im Herbst 1865 wurde die Bahnhofstrasse zwischen Paradeplatz und Bahnhof dem Verkehr übergeben. Heute ist die Bahnhofstrasse zu grossen Teilen eine für den regulären Autoverkehr gesperrte Fussgängerzone.
1971 erhielt die Bahnhofstrasse erstmals eine einheitliche Weihnachtsbeleuchtung, Ende November 2010 wurde die heutig Weihnachtsbeleuchtung «Lucy» in Betrieb gesetzt, nachdem die viel zu moderne und kalte «The World`s largest Timepiece» nur fünf Jahre überlebte.
Schon etwa 35 Jahre ist hier an der Zürcher Bahnhofstrasse auch ein Nashorn zu Hause. Seit August 2015 steht es für alle Passanten gut sichtbar mitten auf dem Trottoir.

With up to 15’000 swiss franks per squaremeters per year the loans are one of the highest in Europe. Only in New York City and Hongkong the rates are on a similar level. In this street you can find lots of warehouses, jewelry-stores, watch-stores and luxury-hotels.
Paradeplatz is known as the center of swiss banking industry. But it’s also an important junction for the tramway-lines 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 13.
In 1971 Bahnhofstrasse got it’s first Christmas-lightning. In November 2010 todays Christmas-lightning “Lucy” was installed. Before “Lucy” there was “The World’s largest Timepiece” installed. It lasted only five years, because most people found it too modern and cold.
Since about 35 years there is also a rhino at the Bahnhofstrasse. Since August 2015 it stands on the sidewalk, clearly visible for all passersby.
