Geocache Description:

Dublin's Favourite Bridge

Prior to the building of the Ha’penny Bridge in 1816 passengers used a ferry to cross between the North and South sides of the River Liffey. The new bridge replaced the ferry but there was still a fee of one half penny to pay for using the pedestrian bridge. This fee was in force for 100 years. The bridge quickly became known as the Ha’penny Bridge despite its real name being the Liffey Bridge. No fee exists today and Dubliners have enjoyed the free use of this iconic elliptical bridge for over 100 years now. One ha’penny would have bought a loaf of bread in olden days. Odd when you consider that there were 480 ha’pennies in an Irish pound.

Your Task

You should be viewing the Ha'penny Bridge from any vantage point, maybe even standing on it, as it is one of The River Liffey's most iconic bridges.
You need to take a picture of any aspect of the Ha'penny Bridge with date proof in the photo, so include a current newspaper, magazine, concert ticket stub, Dart or Luas or other transport ticket. You can even get your camera to date stamp the photo you take. Use your imagination, and there is no need to appear in the photo if you don't wish to, but it would be nice to do so.

Please Note:
Do not send me the picture, just upload it with your log. Logs without photo, or with a photo in the wrong location, or lacking date proof of your visit, may be deleted.
If you are part of a group, the individual posting the group photo must also post the Geocaching Usernames of those in the photo to their log.
