Geocache Description:

The Edogawa Commemorative Garden is a beautiful peaceful space located in the Gosford Regional Gallery precinct.  Officially opened in September 1994, the Garden was a gift from the City of Edogawa in Tokyo, with whom Gosford formed a Sister City Agreement in 1988.

Covering some 4,000m2, the garden was designed in accordance with the original principles of the Japanese Heian (700AD) period and is based on a traditional ‘shuyu’ or strolling-style garden.  It includes a range of Japanese features including meandering pathways, a roofed Japanese pavilion overlooking a Koi pond, raked dry stone garden and a traditional Japanese teahouse.

The Garden offers a tranquil setting in which to relax and enjoy art and nature, and is enjoyed daily by both residents and visitors to the Central Coast.

The Garden is open every day (except Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day) from 9:30am to 4:00pm.  Entry is free.  Bags of fish food are available from the gallery shop for children to feed the fish from the ornamental bridge.

To log this virtual cache as a find you need to:

  1. take a photo of your favourite feature in the Garden (with you or something of you or one of your team in the foreground) and submit it with your log.

  2. Name the Edogawa Mayor who visited the Garden in May 2000?  Send your answer to the CO via email or the message centre ... do not include the answer in your log.

Enjoy!
