Ekeby Kvarn
Detta är en virtuell cache och det innebär att ingen burk och ingen logglista finns gömd på platsen, loggningen skall endast ske via nätet.
Här i Sala återfinns Ekeby damm som delas av dammpromenaden i övre och nedre Ekeby damm, dammen gränsar i sydväst mot Stadsparken, i väster mot bostadsområdena Västermalm och Åkra, i norr mot Väsby Kungsgård. I nordost mot Vårdcentralen och Lasarettet samt vid östra stranden finns kvarnrännan kvar till Ekeby Kvarn.
En sluss var även planerad, vid numera nedbrunna, Ekeby kvarn, för att genom Lillån och Sagån få en direkt kanalförbindelse mellan gruvan och hyttan.
Tidigt fanns här en mjölkvarn som utnyttjade vattnet på dess väg, från Sala Silvergruva respektive Långforsen, ned i Lillån.
Det är bestyrkt att den fanns år 1540, den ombyggdes på 1750 talet.
Ekeby Kvarn brann ner i januari 1964, det var några smågrabbar som tände en brasa inne i byggnaden.
Idag påminner endast en kvarnsten och en transformatorstation om den tidigare kvarnverksamheten.

Here in Sala you will find Ekeby damm (Ekeby reservoir/lake). Which is divided by a footpath Dammpromenaden into Upper and Lower Ekeby damm.
The lake is situated near the town centre, it is bounded by the town park in the south west, in the west by the residential areas of Västermalm and Åkra, in the north by the Väsby Kungsgård (former royal estate), and the hospital in the north east. On the eastern bank of the lake, the old mill-race to Ekeby kvarn (Ekeby Mill) is still there.
A lock was planned, adjacent to the mill, to create with canals a direct route between the Silver mine and the foundry (smelting site) using the streams Lillån and Sagån.
Earlier there was a flour mill that used the hydro-power from the water from the Silver mine, also from lake Långforsen to Lillån.
Records show a mill in operation in 1540, with major alterations in the 1750’s.
Ekeby Mill was set on fire in 1964 by two young boys, who had lit a campfire inside the mill. The mill was completely burnt down.
Today, only a millstone, and a building for the electrical transformer, are the only things that remain to show that a working mill was once on this site.
