De vlindersculptuur te Lommel Kattenbos
Het vlinderkunstwerk werd ingehuldigd op 22 september 2018.
Een werk van Will Beckers, die tevens de vlinderwandeling creëerde.
Het kunstwerk is het sluitstuk van de route en een prachtig zicht als je Lommel Kattenbos binnenrijdt.
Je kan hier de laatste fase, van de vier cyclussen die de vlinder doorloopt, zien. Het loslaten van de cocon en de geboorte van de vlinder. Vanuit de cocon groeit de ultieme vlinder. De metamorfose in het groeiproces wordt duidelijk door een afdruk,een laatste imprint van de vlindervleugels in de cocon.
De vlinder zelf staat op een afstand, bovenop een boomstam die symbolisch vertrekt vanuit de cocon. De boomstam krijgt een extra demensie omdat hij aangeplant wordt met een plantensoort die het geheel een mooie natuurlijke evolutie bezorgt.
Het werk bestaat hoofdzakelijk uit cortenstaal.
De vlindervleugels zijn afgewerkt met emaille in schitterende kleurschakeringen met tinten van blauw.
Tijdens de vlinderwandeling kan je spelenderwijs kennis maken met de verschillende stadia van een vlinder.

The butterfly artwork was inaugurated on September 22, 2018. A work by Will Beckers, who also created the butterfly walk. The artwork is the final piece of the route and a beautiful view when you enter Lommel Kattenbos. You can see here the final phase of the four cycles that the butterfly goes through. The tree trunk gets an extra dimension because it is planted with a plant species that gives the whole a beautiful natural evolution. The work consists mainly of corten steel. The butterfly wings are finished with enamel in beautiful hues with shades of blue. During the butterfly walk you can get to know the different stages of a butterfly in a playful way.
