På denna plats finns en byst föreställande Göran Fredrik Göransson (kallad Konsuln), född 1819-01-20 och död 1900-05-12 i Sandviken. Konsuln låg bakom grundandet av Sandvikens Jernverks AB 1868, vilket var ursprunget till ett globalt svensk företag. Konsul Göransson köpte rättigheterna till Bessemer-metoden och anses vara den som först lyckades använda denna metod för stålframställning med framgång. Vid grundandet fanns inte Sandviken som samhälle utan har växt upp runt bruket. Sandviken fick stadsprivilegier 1943.
Härifrån ser man även en stor brun tegelbyggnad som fram till 2012 var koncernens huvudkontor - den lilla delen åt höger är den ädsta och resten är tillbyggt efter hand. Lite längre ner bland träden syns en stångjärnshammare (waypoint 3) och en bessemer-konverter (waypoint 1) som användes för att rena stålet från kol. Här kan man även se några av grundstenarna (waypoint 2) till Konsulns bostadshus.

Here stands a bust of Göran Fredrik Göransson (Aslo known as Konsuln), born 1819-01-20 and died 1900-05-12 in Sandviken. Konsuln founded Sandvikens Jernverks AB 1868, which developed to a big global company. Consul Göransson bought the rights for the Bessemer method and is seen as the one that first that successfully used this method for producing steel. The city of Sandviken did not exist when the company was founded. Sandviken is a result of a city growing up around a company. The city received city privileges 1943.
From here you can also see a big brown building that used to be the companies head office until 2012. The small part to the right is the oldest part of the building. You can also take a look at an old steam hammer (waypoint 3), a bessemer converter (waypoint 1) and some of the foundation stones from the residential of Konsuln.
To log this cache you need to upload a picture of a gps with the bust in the background. Or, if you prefer, you can upload a selfie of yourself with the bust in the background. Logs without a photo will be erased.
