Mont Blanc / Monte Bianco
Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and Europe, rising in the Montblanc massif on the Franco-Italian border to an altitude of 4792 m. It‘s covered with an ice sheet of varying thickness between 14 - 23 m. Determination of the Euro-Asian border is not clear, and therefore in different sources, you can find either Mont Blanc or Mount Elbrus as the highest peak of Europe. The first climbers who reached the top were the French - Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard, August 8, 1786; and the first woman was Marie Paradis on July 14, 1808. However, the date of her success is uncertain: the years 1809 and 1811 are also mentioned.
The first photos of Mont Blanc were taken by the brothers Louis-Auguste Bisson and Auguste-Rosalie Bisson in 1861. They were accompanied by twenty-five porters who carried all the technical equipment. They had to bring the entire darkroom, including a heater to melt the snow, all about 250 kg.

Il Monte Bianco è la montagna più alta delle Alpi e e di tutta l'Europa; si trova nel massiccio di Montblanc al confine franco-italiano ad un'altitudine di 4792 m. È coperta da uno strato di ghiaccio di spessore variabile tra 14 e 23 m. A causa della metodologia incoerente per l'esatta determinazione del confine euro-asiatico, a volte il titolo di montagna più alta d'Europa è attribuito anche al Monte Elbrus, nel Caucaso. I primi a raggiungere la cima furono Jacques Balmat e Michel Paccard, due scalatori francesi, l'8 Agosto 1786. La prima donna a conquistare il Monte Bianco (il 14 Luglio 1808) fu Marie Paradis, ma la data della sua scalata non è certa: alcune fonti riportano anche gli anni 1809 o 1811.
Le prime fotografie della cima del Monte Bianco furono scattate dai fratelli Louis-Auguste Bisson (1814-1876) e Auguste-Rosalie Bisson (1826 – 1900) nel 1861. Furono accompagnati da 25 uomini che trasportarono tutta l'attrezzatura fotografica, inclusa l'intera camera oscura comprendente una stufa per sciogliere la neve, per un peso totale intorno ai 250 kg.

Mont Blanc je tradičně považován za nejvyšší vrchol Evropy, avšak z důvodu nejednotné metodiky pro přesné určení evropsko-asijské hranice bývá tento titul připisován i kavkazské hoře Elbrus.
Na vrchol poprvé vystoupili Francouzi 8. srpna 1786 Jacques Balmat a Michel Paccard. První ženou, zdolavší Mont Blanc, byla 14. července 1808 Marie Paradisová. Datum jejího výstupu však není jisté: uvádí se i léta 1809 či 1811.
První fotografie na vrcholu Mont Blancu pořídili bratři Louis-Auguste Bisson a Auguste-Rosalie Bisson (1826–1900) v roce 1861. Putovalo s nimi pětadvacet nosičů technického vybavení. Museli nahoru dopravit celou temnou komoru včetně kamínek na rozehřátí sněhu, vše okolo 250 kg.
