Med denna cache firar jag tio år som geocachare ! Jag loggade min första (GCKPMH) 2010-05-15 i samband med sonens klassresa till Älvsborgs fästning.
I äldre tider, runt 600 e Kr, uppfördes i detta område flera storverk. Det byggdes en stor kungshall, en närliggande by för allt tjänstefolk, ett stuteri, ett hus för hovjuveleraren, kungliga gravhögar med mera.
För att ytterligare bekräfta den makt som koncentrerats här uppfördes även stolprader. Spåren efter dessa upptäcktes 2013 i samband med utgrävningar inför ny järnvägsdragning. En arkeologisk sensation, de var nästan kilometerlånga ! Det är dock inte känt vilken kung som lät göra detta.
Idag ses bara gravhögarna men här sjöd det alltså av liv för 1400 år sedan !
I modern tid (2019) har man låtit uppföra ett lite mindre ståtligt monument.

This cache celebrates my 10th anniversary as a geocacher. I logged my first one (GCKPMH) the 15th of May 2010 during a field trip to Älvsborg Fortress with my son and his school class.
Back in the days, around 600 A.D., many great achievements were erected in this area. A great Royal Hall was built with a whole village for staff/servants, a horse stud, a juwelery shop, royal tumulus etc.
As another statement of the wealth and power associated with the area is marked by rows of poles. Traces of the poles were discovered in 2013 when excavation work was carried out in connection with the new railway. An archeological sensation, theses rows were almost a kilometer in length. It is still unknown what king who had the rows built.
All that remains today are the royal tumulus but 1400 years ago.
More recently (2019) a more modest monument was built.
To log this cache I would like you to visit the place and study the modern pole-monument.
