Είμαστε πολύ ευχαριστημένοι με την ευκαιρία που μας προσφέρει το geocaching HQ να τοποθετήσουμε μια εικονική προσωρινή μνήμη. Αυτό μας δίνει τελικά την ευκαιρία να τοποθετήσουμε μια κρυφή μνήμη στο πιο πολύτιμο μέρος μας στην αγαπημένη μας Ελλάδα, τις Μυκήνες.
Επειδή το 1982 η αγάπη μας ξεκίνησε εδώ και δέκα χρόνια αργότερα, το 1992, παντρευτήκαμε από τον Δήμαρχο της Μυκηνίας. Για εμάς αυτό είναι επομένως από πολλές απόψεις ένα ιστορικό μέρος, το οποίο θα θέλαμε να δείξουμε στους συναδέλφους μας.
Οι Μυκήνες (Μυκήναι, Μυκήνη) ήταν αρχαία πόλη της Αργολίδας κοντά στο βουνό Τρητός κι απέναντι απ' τον Αργολικό κόλπο. Ο αρχαιολογικός χώρος των Μυκηνών βρίσκεται περίπου 90 χιλιόμετρα νοτιοδυτικά της Αθήνας, στη βορειοανατολική Πελοπόννησο.
Κατά τη 2η χιλιετία π.Χ., οι Μυκήνες ήταν ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα κέντρα του ελληνικού πολιτισμού, αποτελώντας ένα ισχυρό στρατιωτικό φρούριο που δέσποζε στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος της νότιας Ελλάδας. Η περίοδος της ελληνικής ιστορίας μεταξύ 1600 π.Χ. έως περίπου το 1100 π.Χ. ονομάζεται «μυκηναϊκή», αναφερόμενη στις Μυκήνες. Στο απόγειο της δόξας τους, το 1350 π.Χ., το κάστρο και η κάτω πόλη είχαν 30.000 κατοίκους και ήταν έκτασης 32 εκταρίων.
Πύλη των Λεόντων
Η κύρια είσοδος της ακρόπολης των Μυκηνών, του κύριου κέντρου του Μυκηναϊκού Πολιτισμού. Η πύλη κατασκευάστηκε στα μέσα του 13ου αιώνα π.Χ., κατά τη διάρκεια της δεύτερης επέκτασης των οχυρώσεων στις Μυκήνες όταν βασιλιάς ήταν ο Ατρέας.
Για να καταγράψετε αυτήν την προσωρινή μνήμη, πρέπει να πάτε στο Πύλη των Λεόντων και να τραβήξετε μια φωτογραφία από την Lion Gate με τον τρόπο που οι περισσότεροι τουρίστες δεν κάνουν: από την πίσω πλευρά! Δημοσιεύστε μια φωτογραφία τουλάχιστον του χεριού σας που δείχνει σε αυτήν την ιδιαίτερη πίσω πλευρά της πύλης!
Τα αρχεία καταγραφής που δεν διαθέτουν την απαιτούμενη φωτογραφία θα διαγραφούν.

We are very happy with the opportunity that geocaching HQ offers us to place a virtual cache. This finally gives us the opportunity to place a cache on our most precious place in our beloved Greece, Mycenae.
Because in 1982 our love started here and ten years later, in 1992, we were married by the Mayor of Mycenae. For us this is therefore in many ways a historical place, which we would like to show our fellow cachers.
Mycenae is an archaeological site near Mykines in Argolis, north-eastern Peloponnese, Greece. It is located about 120 kilometres (75 miles) south-west of Athens; 11 kilometres (7 miles) north of Argos; and 48 kilometres (30 miles) south of Corinth. The site is 19 kilometres (12 miles) inland from the Saronic Gulf and built upon a hill rising 900 feet (274 metres) above sea level.
In the second millennium BC, Mycenae was one of the major centres of Greek civilization, a military stronghold which dominated much of southern Greece, Crete, the Cyclades and parts of southwest Anatolia. The period of Greek history from about 1600 BC to about 1100 BC is called Mycenaean in reference to Mycenae. At its peak in 1350 BC, the citadel and lower town had a population of 30,000 and an area of 32 hectares.
The Lion Gate was the main entrance of the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae, southern Greece. It was erected during the 13th century BC, around 1250 BC in the northwest side of the acropolis and is named after the relief sculpture of two lionesses or lions in a heraldic pose that stands above the entrance.
To log this cache, you have to go to the Lion Gate and take a picture from the Lion Gate in the way most tourist not do: from the backside! Post a photo of at least your hand pointing at this particular back side of the gate!
It would be nice if you were photographing something specific to your country at the same time!
