Geocache Description:

Tranquil spot to take a break, or as a destination in it's own right. Picnic recommended!

Cache is around a 4km hike along a trail. Going from the Upper Torc carpark, it should take about an hour at an estimate. Along the way you will pass along the Owengarriff river on one side and Torc Mountain on the other.

Cache is also about 4km from Derrycunnihy church, which could make for start/end point allowing for a pleasant one way hike along a portion of the Kerry Way.

The small waterfall is on the Crinnagh river. The Crinnagh river runs down into the Long range which in turn feeds into Muckross lake. The waterfall is amenable to be clambered up and around, path over to it might be a little boggy.

The route is along the Old Kenmare Road, which was once the main connection between the towns of Killarney and Kenmare. The road was overtaken (so to speak) in the 1820's by what is now the N71. The townlands along the road were emptied of people over the next 40 years, through a combination of famine, emigration and eviction. By the 1860's the Old Kenmare Road would have looked more or less like it is now.
