Geocache Description:

Framlingham is a market town and civil parish in Suffolk, England. Of Anglo-Saxon origin, it is mentioned in the Domesday Book. It had a population of 3,342 at the 2011 Census.

The medieval Framlingham Castle is a major feature. The town is also home to the comprehensive secondary school Thomas Mills High School, the independent school Framlingham College, the Church of St Michael the Archangel and Framlingham Town F.C..

The town has the two oldest functioning Post Office pillar boxes in the UK, dating from 1856, located on Double Street and College Road respectively - one of which features on the village sign. It is also home to one of the smallest houses in Britain, known as the "Check House".

Ed Sheeran, the singer–songwriter, grew up in Framlingham and attended Thomas Mills High School. The town is the subject of his hit single "Castle on the Hill."

To find the cache:

Visit the village sign and find the small bronze plaque. There are two dates - these are ABCD - WXYZ.

The co-ordinates for the final location can be found by some simple maths:

Northings: 52° C[Y/3].[X-D]ZA

Eastings 001° [A+W][C-A].[D-A-C-W][A+D][D+W]

The final:

The cache is a magnetic nano. It is a short walk/drive away from the village sign, and is very close to one of the features mentioned in the description above. Hint: no, not Ed Sheeran!

The GZ is accessible by wheelchair or pushchair. Wheelchair users should be able to retrieve the cache.

As I'm celebrating my 50th birthday this year, I said that I would put out 50 caches/events to mark the occasion. This is 50 4 50 #24

If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do. I would ask that you let Smokeypugs know first by filling in the contact form on the Village Sign Series website villagesignseries.co.uk so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
