This cache is located on the summit of Split Mountain. Elevation 14,058 feet. If you approach from the east, you will get to enjoy about 7500 feet of elevation gain. Part of the route above Red Lake involves some very loose rock (a climbing helmet is highly recommended). The route itself is rated only class 2. The coordinates of the Red Lake trailhead are N37 02.189 W118 21.587. You will need a high-clearance vehicle to reach this point.
The objective of this cache is to find the summit register box. Inside this box, you will find the number 99 with two words beneath it. E-mail me the two words below the number 99 to claim credit for this cache. This cache may only be logged as a find on or after 8/18/02. Good luck!
