Geocache Description:

The Lanchester Valley Walk is part of an extensive network of Railway Paths which are fantastic for cyclists, walkers, horse-riders and of course, geocachers. The Lanchester Valley railway opened in 1862 and was built to carry iron ore to Consett steelworks and coal from Langley Park; it closed in 1965. It starts at Lydgetts Junction in Consett and continues down to Broom Park. There are a few picnic areas on the way and these all have parking along with parking at Hurbuck Cottages. This series starts in Knitsley and takes you through farms and across roads, So please be carefull when with children or animals at those stages. I hope you enjoy finding them as much as I enjoyed putting them out.
