G4 (Gaithersburg Germantown Geocaching Gathering) Creation Celebration event - Making Mysteries.
This month in honor of Geocaching HQ's Creation Celebration we will be having an instructional event where special guests WJ Family will be talking about how they go about making the great mystery caches that are spread around our area. Some of my favorites include the hardest Sudoku puzzle I have ever solved and the Rubik's Cube mystery cache.
Topics WJ Family will cover include:
- Finding inspiration for puzzles
- adapt from real life, steal from other puzzles you like, exploit a theme)
- Tools to help you create puzzles
- they’re often the same tools you use to solve puzzles, crazy people build all sorts of neat tools, build your own if you can
- The importance of testing puzzles
- playtest on yourself and others, you can never tell how hard it is when you already know the answer)
And they may even be giving out some hints to some of their current puzzle caches!
