Geocache Description:

The Houston Zoological Gardens. Easy to get to. Nice place to spend the day with the kids or just to have something to do for the day.

Set in lovely Hermann Park, this wonderful 50-acre park has over 700 species of animals including a living coral exhibit, a gorilla habitat, a rainforest aviary, and creepy vampire bats. It has a wonderful petting area for the children, as well as special shows like the sea lion demonstrations and the bat feeding times.

If watching the animals eat makes you hungry, there are two outdoor concession stands and one indoor dining area. Both feature hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and snacks. The gift shop offers lovely animal gifts appropriate for both kids and adults.

The Houston Zoo is everything you can imagine...Elephants trumpet, loins roar and monkeys howl while Zoo visitors walk through lush foilage and tropical flowers. Zooperb fun! The Zoo is home to koalas, flamingos, alligators, tigers, and orangutans. While in the neighborhood, experience the exotic plants of the orient at the Japanese Gardens, also located in Hermann Park.
