Le musée et site gallo-romains du Fâ vous propose un circuit de cinq caches qui vous permettront de découvrir cette ancienne ville portuaire gallo-romaine.
Au fil de votre parcours en dehors de l'espace de visite, qui commence par le théâtre, d’une distance d’environ 1km, n’oubliez pas de relever les indices indispensables pour trouver les quatre premières caches.

THEATRE :
Vous voici au sommet du théâtre. Le théâtre occupe une position remarquable au nord-est du site, où il est adossé à la colline de La Garde. L'édifice est tourné vers le sud-ouest et fait face à une partie de la ville antique et à l'estuaire.
Fouillé de 2007 à 2017, son plan est composé d'un demi-cercle de 81 m de diamètre, la cavea, où prenaient place les spectateurs, prolongé à l'arrière par un rectangle de même longueur et d'environ 19 m de largeur où se trouvaient probablement la scène et les annexes. Les fouilles ont permis de prouver que le théâtre a été modifié. Initialement prévu pour 3 000 spectateurs au début du Ier siècle, il a été agrandi et vraisemblablement transformé en édifice mixte pouvant accueillir des jeux (combats de gladiateurs, chasses, etc) à la fin du Ier ou début du IIe siècle. Sa capacité d'accueil est alors passée à environ 6 000 spectateurs, nous donnant un indice pour quantifier la population de la ville antique et de ses environs.
Afin de maintenir son état de conservation et dans l'attente d'une mise en valeur, le théâtre est aujourd'hui de nouveau sous la terre.
THE AMPHITHEATRE :
You are now overlooking the amphitheatre. It is situated in a dominant position to the northeast of the site, next to the hill of La Garde. The building faces southwest and looks toward part of the ancient city and the estuary.
Excavated from 2007 to 2017, it consists of a semi-circle, 81 m in diameter, called the cavea, where the spectators sat, and is extended at the back by a rectangle of the same length and approximately 19 m wide, where the stage and the annexes were probably situated. Excavations have shown that the amphitheatre has been modified. Originally planned for 3,000 spectators at the beginning of the 1st century, it was enlarged and probably transformed into a larger structure that could accommodate games (gladiator fights, hunting, etc.) at the end of the 1st or the beginning of the 2nd century. Its capacity was then increased to about 6,000 spectators, giving us an indication of the population of the ancient city and its surroundings.
In order to preserve its state of conservation and in expectation of further research, the amphitheatre has again been covered over.
