New Green Pond

9th March 2019 - 10.00am - 12.pm

Where

The CITO will take place at New Green Conservation area in Thurston near Bury St. Edmunds. We will meet at 10.00am in the car park of the New Green Centre which is on New Green Ave. Thurston, just off Station Hill and thing over to the conservation area.

After the event there will be tea, coffee, squash and biscuits available in the New Green Centre from 12.00am and time for a bit of caching chat and a mardle. There will be also be a trackable box to swap those TBs and Geocoins.

CITO Task

The conservation area was established in 1989 when the New Green area was set up and the New Green centre was built. When we first moved to Thurston the conversation area was lovely and the pond used to be be timing with wildlife with frogs and newts. The conservation area is currently looking in need of some TLC as there is a lot of litter in the area and in the pond and around the fenced area.

We will be clearing the conservation area and the surrounding fenced area of the litter that has built up over the last year or so.

Provided that the frogs haven't laid too much frogspawn we may try and remove some of the rush that has taken over the pond to open it up a bit. If you want to get involved in this please bring old clothes and wellies.

If we have a good turn out then there is also the whole of the New Green area that could do with clearing of any litter.

As there is a small pond in the conservation area, any children attending should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

We will endeavour to get hold of some litter pickers and Hi-Vis waistcoats, however if you can bring your own along with some gloves that would be great.

Many thanks to the New Green Trust for allowing us to do this clean up.
