The world of agents and spies - famous characters
Although spies and agents act secretly and their identities are not disclosed, there are some we know. As fictional characters and movie heroes or even real agents who have come into the limelight by the press discovering their activity, their operations and actions in secrecy fascinate us.
Carl Hans Lody
He went down in history as first gripped German spy of the First World War: Carl Hans Lody, born on (1. / date – dd.mm.yyyy) in Berlin, but perhaps somewhere else. He lost his parents early and grew up in a foster family, later in a foster home. After he had broken off an apprenticeship in the colonial goods trade, he was hired in (2.) as a cabin boy on the sailing ship (3.). His career at sea was rising steeply. In (4.), he successfully took the helmsman's examination and acquired the master's certificate in (5.). Unfortunately, he could only work for (6. – short form, 5 letters) as an officer for a few years. For health reasons, he had to quit his job and then worked as a (7. / German!) for American companies. Shortly after the outbreak of World War I, he offered his services to the German Admiralty as a spy. Due to his excellent knowledge of English, he was accepted.
As a US citizen, (8. / word letter word), he made a detour to Edinburgh, where he finally began espionage operations at the (9.) naval base. His information probably led to the German submarine (10.) being able to sink the first ship of the war on 05.09.1914, the British cruiser (11.).
However, his activities did not go unnoticed for a long time. Already on 02.10.1914 he was arrested at a hotel in (12.). In his room there were many indications of his activity as a spy. His real name was also discovered here, namely in his (13.), where they found an address in Berlin and the name of the manufacturer. On 06.11.1914 he was executed in the (14. / 3 words - English!).
