The world of agents and spies - famous characters
Although spies and agents act secretly and their identities are not disclosed, there are some we know. As fictional characters and movie heroes or even real agents who have come into the limelight by the press discovering their activity, their operations and actions in secrecy fascinate us.
Lawrence of Arabia
This dazzling personality was born on 16.08.1888 in (1.), Wales. His real name was (2. / 3 words). Studying at (3.) University increased his fascination with the Middle East. On foot, he toured as a student large parts of (4. / German!) and, after completing his studies as an (5. / German! ä=ae), he participated in expeditions of the British Museum. Fascinated by the great nation of the (6. / German!), he sought and maintained lively contacts with them. Through his language skills, he quickly learned Arabic and studied the national customs and traditions.
Already before the outbreak of World War I, excavation expeditions were used as camouflage to scout out and map the country for the war. Through his local and language skills Lawrence was an ideal cast for these tasks. In December 1914 he worked for the British intelligence service in (7. / German!).
During the Arab Revolt, which lasted from (8.) to (9.) and ended with the conquest of (10. / German!), Lawrence worked as a liaison between the British and the Arabs. After the war, Lawrence returned to the UK. He felt guilty about the Arabs because he had known all along that in the (16. / 2 words) agreement of 1916 the French and English had divided the northern Arab region into British and French zones of influence.
